You may have heard of Eurojackpot lottery, it is based in Europe currently counts 17 nations as participants. Well, actually you can soon make that number 18, as Poland is posed to take part in the fun, starting September 2017.
The other nations already involved make for quite a list. The game was launched back in 2012 and at that point, the participating countries were: Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Estonai, Latvia, Lithuania and Croatia.
The launch was a huge success and the reputation of Eurojackpot lotto grew rapidly. Other countries actually started cueing up to get in on the action and the operators figured why not? What we want as players are bigger prize pots and more excitement. This is generated through pooled revenue from ticket sales; so the more tickets sold – the bigger the jackpot prize fund.
First new Eurojackpot countries added in 2014
First through the door where Hungary and both the Czech and Slovak republic. They started playing in 2014 and brought the total number of nations participating to 16.
The following year Slovenia became Eurojackpot nation number 17. By then, everyone realized that it was just a matter of time until there were double the amount of participating countries for Euromillions. In case you were wondering, the player base of Euromillions is made up of 9 nations, or a total of 217 million potential players.
As Poland joins in the fun and makes up the 18th country, as mentioned ‚doing the double‘ over the other big European lottery game, the Eurojackpot player base is expanded to around 270 million people.
Let me note that these figures do of course exclude the rest of the world. By that I mean, there are vast numbers of players participating from outside of the ‚official‘ Eurojackpot and Euromillions countries. The games are so popular that everyone wants in on the action and they do so via online ticket agents.
What next for Eurojackpot lotto?
At the time of writing, we have no word of further expansion plans. But then again these tend to be kept fairly quiet until the necessary steps have been taken and agreements put in place.
What the competing Euromillions lotto still has over the fast growing younger sibling is the top jackpot size. Eurojackpot is currently capped at 90 million euro, which pales in comparison to the 190 million top prize the other lottery offers.
Also the regular Superdraw features are no doubt a big pull for players all over the world. These see the Euromillions jackpot hiked to 130 million euros and tend to take place at least twice per year.
So yes it is certainly an exciting time for the people associated with Eurojackpot lotto. Players can look forward to faster growing jackpot prizes and operators to more revenue.
