This post gets to the heart of what I've been feeling for the past few months: there's enough to write about, I'm just not doing it. There's a reason for it, and maybe this is true for you, too, Josh: As Cas said,

"I just feel like I am churning stuff out for the sake of it."

Ding! One of the biggest reason I've slowed my pace. I can write for the sake of writing, and do on a regular basis, just not on the blog. Stuff that goes there should be something other than noise. It's one of the reasons I now keep a notebook next to me, one of the reasons I've started an online journal that thankfully no one reads (itz top seeeeekrit).

But one thing I noticed recently is that I found it hard to write anything when I wasn't reading books on a regular basis (as opposed to blog posts or news) or interacting with people (moving from a city to a life-draining suburbia prevents that whole "interaction" thing). The more I do of those two, the more I write and the better my writing becomes. (Stephen King said something along these lines in his book, "On Writing", about the correlation between good writing and reading/interacting with people.)

Anyway, good luck!

Cas: Yep, I quoted you. Hopefully I don't owe you any money for it. You ARE in publishing, after all. :) And yes, that's quite motivating.

Tom: Will your longer essays be online somewhere? I'd ike to read them.

How's Norwegian coming along for you?

Wow, I'm in the same boat as both of you. Life has changed for me in many ways over the last few months and I can't find anything to write about on me blog. I'm thinking I'm going to can mine and just write longer essays (which is what my blog was practice for in the first place).

I agree with Ms.Cas and say: find your own balance and don't force it by making a schedule. Maybe consider a theme or message? Some kind of giant thesis by which to run your blog maybe.

Good for you on the languages though. I'm doing Norwegian :).

OMG! You quoted me! *gets knocked down with feather* *blush*

It's only been a week, and already I don't think my one-a-day thing is working out for me. I just feel like I am churning stuff out for the sake of it. I think you need to find the balance that works for you. Maybe once a week? Memes can be good, but you don't want to overdo them IMO, because then you loose the individuality that makes you great.

Ack, if I had the answer, I wouldn't be fighting my way out the doldrums myself now, would I?

Stick to it.

*waves pom poms in best cheerleader style*

There, that motivation enough for ya? ;)
