I discovered why the CPU I bought didn't have a fan / heat sink: it's one of AMD's "Black Edition" processors, which are made specifically to be overclocked - it's how they're marketed. I guess AMD assumes that anyone who wants to overclock will want aftermarket cooling solutions. It's rather odd that the processor does not come with a heat sink, cuz ALL processors have a heat sink...did newegg ask you whether you wanted a heat sink or something while you were customizing your order? I'm sure a lamp would lend that certain soft glow to its inherent prettiness. Or, you could sit it beside your desk, and appreciate its beauty as place to set your drinks.
