One caveat -- the U.S. Postal Service does not consider Media Mail overdue until 30 days after shipping and will not accept a lost mail complaint for Media mail until 30 days after shipping.

I think it's wrong that he lied. I believe you should try to find more info on them and do something about it. A case like this had happened to me at Walgreens and at the end after a month later the manager had said that someone did not put the order in right . After so many days of waiting and repeatingly going to the store to see if my product was ready and it was not.

Thankfully you got your product.

I've often found that people who lie have some underlying problem that isn't as easy to fix as "just tell the truth".

Indeed it does; I gave him 2 out of 5 stars, mostly for lying to me.

My mummy used to say 'honesty last longest' and I think she's right! Maybe we think the seller is as smart as we are even though there's no such thing as logical thinking involved?
And I agree with you too (so no offence at all) on the integrity vs money thing. I just meant people who talk themselves 'up' seem to get more opportunities. I guess I got my English terms wrong - that last thing is probably more to do with modesty.

Does the BN website have a third party seller rating thingy like Amazon does? ;)

Yeah, I suppose it is easier to lie when you don't have to actually face the person. Regarding whether someone is getting ahead of you though, it really depends on how you look at "getting ahead." What's more important to you - material gain, popularity, etc., or knowing that you've been truthful, having integrity, etc.? Personally I'd rather be poor and have integrity than be rich and be a liar. (And that, by the way, is not an attack on you - just saying, that's how I see it.)

Regarding whether he was worried I'd cancel the order - well, maybe. But if, by shipping it so late and not telling me, he was pretty close to having to issue a refund anyway. And for that matter, technically speaking, I could have got the refund AND kept the book, in which case he would have been "doubly" out.

I guess it's just so much easier to lie when you're not standing in front of the person you're lying to. That doesn't make it alright though! I hate people who lie and I can't do it myself. I wouldn't want to either!
Sometimes I wonder though if my honesty is setting me back and others with no morals are getting ahead of me?
