I was gone this last weekend, which is why the blog has been a bit quiet (and no, that’s not an apology, just an explanation). I was in Columbus (or rather, a little north of Columbus, at Alum Creek State Park), with the Viking boating group I’m a member of. It was our annual meeting - we had the “official” meeting, wherein we discussed where we’d like the group to go, what we’d like to accomplish, etc. The infinitely more enjoyable aspect of the weekend was playing with our boat on the lake. No, we didn’t capsize (but we came close a few times!)
Anyway - while driving around the area, looking for the state park, as well as while searching for a friend’s house where we were to crash, we saw a few funny things. I jotted them down in a notebook so I could blog about ‘em:
- At one point, we passed a sign that pointed to the left. It was pointing towards “Plain City.” Can you imagine having to report that you live in Plain City?
- One of the roads we had to use to reach our friend’s home was called Godown Road. Why would you name a road Godown Road? I can just see someone trying to give directions which use it:
“Yeah, you need to go down Godown.”
“What? Go down what?”
“Godown.”
“… What is it I need to go down?”
“Godown road.”
“Um…”
We won’t even get into the sexual connotations of that road’s name.

No, no I don’t.
You all can imagine it just fine, I’m sure.
In a totally unrelated bit of triva (no, really!) - Deep Throat was the pseudonym that was given to William Mark Felt, Sr., Deputy Director of the FBI.
