I was never a nervous type: either I knew my stuff and was confident, or I hadn't done enough and faced the consequences. This professor was a bit of a nut case: he liked sneaking up on people in hallways, scaring them witless or performing slide tackles on students yelling First snow! – that kind of guy. Well, the exam began (oral) and it crashed and burnt pretty quickly. I don't know how it happened, and I'll spare you the details, but one of us must have made some laconic remark and both of us just ended up laughing uncontrollably. I stumbled back into the hallway, belly aching from laughter, and told the others I had flunked catastrophically but never had a more fun exam. Okay, granted it was a one=off and I did do very well in September, but yeah, unbelievably: failing an exam can be funny.
