I think you had enough of good reasons why to study Russian. I am, same as you, a foreign language geek and I started to study Russian after I heard it somewhere on TV and thought: “this language sounds good”.

Anyway, I wish you good luck with Russian. I know that the beginning is terrible – all this sounds, letters and completely different grammar… but as you start thinking in Russian it gets much easier.
