This is almost like a follow-up book to Stalingrad, which I read last year. It was a really interesting reading, but also more than a bit sad. I’m always shocked at how truly insane Hitler had become by the end. It was also a bit of a shock to read how brutally the Red Army treated German civilians, particularly women. I’ll have to check out Stalingrad again and see if the German army behaved this way while heading towards Stalingrad.
