I mentioned a couple of days ago that I’m going to be doing 52 books in 52 weeks this year. In my post, I said that I was in the middle of reading two books (The Fall of Berlin 1945 and Song of Susannah), and that I was going to try and wrap them up by the end of the year so I could start a new book right away. As I half-expected would happen with said two books, I’m already behind on the 52 books in 52 weeks thing. I have roughly 120 pages left in each one. I know I’ll be able to finish them both up before week 1 is over, but I doubt I’ll be able to start and finish a third, fresh book for week 1 on top of them. What I’ll probably end up doing is finishing them up, counting one of them as the book for Week 1, and then starting a fresh book for week 2.
I’m not sure what I’m going to read for week 2, but I’m thinking it might be The Face of Battle by John Keegan. It’s highly regarded by amazon.com reviewers, and I’ve been wanting to read it for a while now. (Since I was able to pick it up at a used bookstore for a mere $1, actually!) On the other hand, once I’m done with Song of Susannah, the call of The Dark Tower may be too strong; I may have to finish up the series.
Also, I’m still hoping for some more book recommendations. If you have one (or many) you’d like to recommend, drop a comment on this post.
