I’ve seen this around the blogosphere a few times, but I think I’ve decided to finally do it. What am I talking about? 52 books in 52 weeks. Or, to put it in a way that doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, one book every week for one year. I saw the best implementation of the idea over at A Modest Construct, one of my new favorite blogs. (I found it when it was accepted into 9rules this round.)I’ve decided to do it for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, it sounds fun. I love books, I love reading; 52 books in 52 weeks is my kind of thing! Secondly, hopefully it will help me cope with a problem I have: too many books at once. I have a really, really bad problem of starting one book, and then another, and then another… and before I know it, I’m in “the middle” of half a dozen books. When this happens, it seems to take me ten times as long to finish any of them. I’m a fairly quick reader, so I know I can get through books faster; I just need to stick to one at a time.
I’m in the middle of reading The Fall of Berlin 1945 and Song of Susannah right now (heh, see what I mean about not being able to read one book at a time?) I’m going to try and wrap them up before the first of the year, and then start a new book.
