Some search strings that have led people here.

I’ve mentioned before that I don’t really care about how many people come to my blog; in that way, I’m not a stats-obsessive person. However, I do visit the Blog Stats page for my blog quite often for a different reason: to see the search strings that have led people here. It’s quite often surprising as to what people are searching for, and sometimes downright funny. Here are a few that have caught my attention:

  • rotten shark meat (and a bunch of varieties on it, such as icelandic rotten shark meat) – I understand why this search leads here; it’s the fact that so many people search for this that surprises me. Looking back over recent search hits, 2 – 3 people show up every day looking for some rotten shark meat. :)
  • i really dont like it – Hmm. I’m sorry? Perhaps if you were a bit more specific about what it was, I could be more helpful.
  • stargate everyone speaks english (and many, many variations thereof) - This one makes me smile solely because I now know that I’m not the only one who is bugged by this. There are, apparently, a large number of people who wonder, “Why does everyone on Stargate SG-1 speak English?”
  • what does ‘bump’ mean in a blog - Uhhh… I have no idea! Anyone have a clue? I know that when referring to a forum, bumping a thread simply means replying to it and thus bumping it to the top of the thread list.
  • are books things of the past? - A question I can answer, finally! No, they’re not. At least not for me and thousands of other bibliophiles. I just can’t see books going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe I’m wrong, though. Maybe they’ll be replaced by digital books or some such. If that’s the case, I’ll be doing lots of crying in the future.
  • And the best search string yet, the one that prompted me to write this post: Cylon i’d like to frak – Well then! Let’s just get right down to it, shall we? I don’t know which Cylon you’d like to frak… but I can certainly think of a few who would be decent candidates. ;)

Hmm, maybe ‘bump’ means to edit your timestamp on the blogpost so it shows on the frontpage..? – If it’s similar to ‘bumping’ forumthreads.

Wow. I must admit, I’m surprised that if you do a Google search for

    stargate everyone speaks english

you are the very first result. Ahahaha, for

    Cylon i’d like to frak

THIS post is now the number 1 result. But what I really like is this suggestion from Google.

Did you mean: Cylon i’d like to frank

Heh.. I checked after you commented, Joshua, and I was surprised to find that ‘frank’ can actually be a verb.

    Clicky.
