Yeah, the set I rented had the miniseries on the first disc.

Re: Gaius... My friend Rob, also a BSG fanatic, said the same thing. He finds him to be an interesting character. I can see where you guys are coming from, but I still dislike him. He's just a nasty little self-centered snake in my eyes. :P

Re: Food... Gotcha'. Hopefully they'll touch on it sometime. They could easily make it the focus of a whole episode, just like the water / fuel episodes.

I assume the set you got had the miniseries included? I think it was a retailer-exclusive set that came out earlier and without the miniseries, so I doubt it'd be widespread in rental places.

"I really, really, really dislike Gaius Baltar."
I really, really like him. Not so much for him being a good person, but it's always interesting to see what he'll do next.

"In Season 1, there were episodes that dealt with both water for the fleet, as well as fuel. However, I don’t remember anything about food. Where are they getting enough food to feed 50,000 people a day?"
This is something they just haven't covered well. As the show tries to be more realistic than most scifi shows I think they didn't want to try and get away with completely ignoring the problem, but neither have they gone into detail about what solution they had to have come up with.
