Something popped into my head last night as I was browsing some WordPress.com blogs. Why hasn’t the K2 theme been made available? It’s basically perfectly suited for WordPress.com usage. It supports custom header images, it comes with a bucketload of support, and it’s fairly pretty, right outta’ the box. Not to mention that it’s open source, just like Kubrick was. It also has some pretty kickass CSS, which is easily customized.
Is it because there are still some bugs in it? It looks like the K2 guys just released 0.9, which got rid of any and all bugs that were known about in r167. The K2 guys are wanting folks to report any bugs they find so they can squash them, as they near the big 1.0 release.
Making K2 available on WordPress.com with a link to report bugs would be useful, no?

It might be that K2, strictly speaking, isn’t exactly a theme. It’s classed as a ‘mod’ because it comes pre-ready with a hell of a lot more crap than a standard WP theme (crap in a good way – I’d be lost without K2. Or running a lot more plugins than the three I use now!)

Even if K2 was available without the plugins it supports, that’d still be a pretty rockin’ theme for WordPress.com.
Then again, I suppose if I were really concerned about it, I could just move my blog back to my webhosting space. Let me think if I’m that concerned about it right now…
Nah.
I am considering it though. :X
I have a terrible case of tinkeritis.
