I really love library book sales.

Yesterday afternoon, we (the family and I) went to the local fair. I had mixed feelings about the outing. I usually don’t care much for the local fair. There’s lots of game folks yelling at you, lots of crowding and shoving, and generally, not a great deal to do. There’s some rides, and there’s food joints. And that’s about it. The main staple of the fair is everyone walking around the fairgrounds repeatedly.

However, yesterday, there was something that redeemed the trip: a library book sale. Paperbacks were a quarter a piece, or 5 for a dollar. Hardbacks were 50 cents a piece. I ended up not getting any paperbacks because they were almost all romance books (ew!), but I got a wonderful haul of hardback books. I came home with 12 books I believe. A few of them that I was quite happy about:

I started reading the 7 Habits a long while ago, but never did finish it, and ended up having to return it to the library.

Considering they were 50 cents a piece, for hardback books that were in like new condition, I probably wouldn’t have cared if all they’d had was How To Make Ketchup Popsicles. But the fact that I got some great books for 50 cents a piece.. well, I’m happy. Very happy.

I really, really love book sales. :)

Yep, I know exactly what you mean. One often gets books one wouldn’t normally buy at these “giveaway” sales.

If you like book sales, you may find some decent services from Book Sale Scout (http://www.booksalescout.com) which offers instant sale alerts and a nice searchable directory. I am an avid book collector and just love library sales myself!
